Spring Cleaning Your Wardrobe and Making Space for Loungewear

Time to refresh those closets and level up your loungewear game! As trends shift toward comfort and versatility, it’s time to rethink the space loungewear occupies in your closet. At Comfy with Tati, we believe loungewear is more than just clothing—it’s a lifestyle. Here’s how to clean out your wardrobe while making room for pieces that truly bring you comfort and joy.

1. Start with a Clear Vision

Before you dive in, take a moment to envision your ideal wardrobe. What vibe are you going for this season? Rich Mafia wife or Shopping & Pilates housewife or Eastern Europe Soft girl? Keep this vision in mind as you evaluate each piece. Personally I create Pinterest boards for these occasions; I save pictures of outfits I could replicate or look for style icons that I could draw inspiration from.

2. The Closet Edit: What Stays, What Goes

Let’s be real—decluttering can be an emotional rollercoaster, especially when we’ve got memories tied to some pieces. Use these tips to decide what deserves a spot in your closet:

  • Ask Yourself the Right Questions:

    • Does this piece fit me well?

    • Have I worn it in the past year?

    • Does it align with my current style and lifestyle?

    • Was this piece influenced by an ongoing trend or do I actually like it?

  • Create Piles:

    • Love: Items you love, wear regularly, and make you feel great.

    • Not sure: Pieces that are hard to let go of but you also haven't worn in ages.

    • Hate: Items that are too worn out, don't match your vibe or you just hate.

  • The Rationale:

    • For the items you Love, make sure you clean and scope out the space of your closet before organizing them.

    • For the items you're Not Sure about, try them on to see how they fit you, try to build outfits with them, ask yourself if you'd actually wear that or if it just reminds you of that one time you looked good.

3. Why Loungewear Deserves More Space

As we embrace slower, more intentional living, loungewear is becoming a wardrobe essential. Here’s why:

  • Versatility: Modern loungewear isn’t just for home; it’s stylish enough for errands, casual outings, or even virtual meetings.

  • Investment: Considering we spend nearly half our lives in bed, investing in comfortable and good quality loungewear is a must.

  • Comfort Meets Style: The right loungewear pieces, can offer both elegance and ease. Not only to elevate your relaxation time, but looking your best at home can also boost your mood and bring out your feminine side.

  • Sustainability: Investing in high-quality loungewear reduces the need for frequent replacements, making it an eco-friendly choice.

4. Don’t Toss—Give Items a Second Life

Throwing out clothes can contribute to landfill waste, but there are better options for items you no longer need:

  • Donate: Local shelters, thrift stores, or charities often welcome gently used clothing. This gives your pieces a new home while helping someone in need.

  • Swap with Friends: Host a clothing swap with friends to exchange items you’re ready to part with for something fresh.

  • Upcycle: Turn old tees into cleaning rags or repurpose fabric for DIY projects.

  • Resell: For higher-end items, consider selling them online.

5. Organizing for the New Season

Once you’ve decluttered, it’s time to organize:

  • Group by Category: Separate your loungewear, everyday wear, and occasion pieces for easy access.

  • Invest in Storage Solutions: Use bins or dividers to keep everything neat. Roll your loungewear to save space and prevent wrinkles.

  • Display Favorites: Highlight your go-to pieces so you can grab them quickly.

When organize your wardrobe never forget the golden rule: Out of Sight, Out of Mind.

When you can't see all the options in your wardrobe, you tend to forget about them, which often leads to repeating outfits and then feeling like you don't have enough clothes and then splurging on unnecessary items. Organize your wardrobe that let's you see all the items you have in front of you, to get the most out of them and avoid going down the rabbit hole.

6. Refresh with Intention

Now that you have space, consider adding new pieces that align with your vision. Look for items that:

  • Reflect your personal style.

  • Are made from quality, sustainable materials.

  • Make you feel confident and comfortable.

Final Thoughts

Spring cleaning isn’t just about decluttering—it’s about vibing with the new you. By giving your wardrobe a thoughtful refresh, prioritizing loungewear, and finding sustainable ways to part with old items, you’re not only simplifying your life but also making room for growth and comfort.

Take the first step toward your dream wardrobe today. Your closet—and your future self—will thank you!
